Arlington (Texas) Seguin receiver DeAundre Brown isn't the only top prospect in the 2008 class on his high school team. Defensive tackle Hecter Negrete is also on the radar of several schools.
Negrete, who comes in at 6-foot-2, 277 pounds, has received mail from the likes of Notre Dame, Oklahoma, TCU, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Iowa, and several others already. Now, the Metroplex defender is looking at all of his options and waiting for that first offer.
"It's just a bunch of mail right now," Negrete said. "I'm pretty open right now to anybody."
Negrete was going to take in the TCU junior day this past weekend, but had a conflict. He's already planning on going to the NIKE Combine this weekend in Keller, Texas.
The Seguin defensive tackle was the sophomore defensive player of the year for his district and was a first-team all-district offensive tackle.
The defensive side of the ball is where Negrete sees himself on the next level.
"I moved over to offense too as a junior," Negrete said. "But, I'd say I'm probably a defensive tackle in college."
