DALLAS, Tex. -- BeeJay Williamson has been committed to Louisiana Tech for some time, but lately, some personal connections have led to some notable programs beginning to take a second look at him.
One of his teammates last season at Mesquite-Horn was three-star wide receiver Reggie Roberson, who signed with West Virginia in 2017. Meanwhile, Michigan commits and DeSoto defensive back twins German and Gemon Green have been putting in a good word for him in Ann Arbor, as well.
As far as his current commitment is concerned, however, Williamson was on hand for Tech’s season-opening win against Northwestern State and said that his loyalty is still to the Bulldogs.
“I’ve been to one game already and I’ll be going back,” he said. “But Louisiana Tech feels like home, so that’s where I’m sticking at right now.”
IN HIS WORDS
On West Virginia
“Reggie has been talking about me to the coaches out there and one of them reached out to me to tell me that they like my game,” he said. “Reggie let them know I come down here and I play physical and I can play at the line of scrimmage.”
“From what I’ve heard, they practice full-speed,” he said. “That’s what I like. If you practice full-speed the game will come easy to you.”
On Michigan
“My cousins Germon and Gemon; they’re the ones that put me on Michigan,” he said. “I think the interest is there because the DB’s coach hits me up on Twitter.”
RIVALS REACTION
Williamson said that if West Virginia were to end up offering him, he would be interested in taking a visit to Morgantown. A Michigan offer would loom heavy in his recruitment as well, but things aren’t very far past the initial stages between the Wolverines and Williamson. Otherwise, he gave high marks to his visit to the game in Ruston and maintained his happiness with his commitment.
“It was a great experience,” he said. “I liked how their team really got after it.”
