More offers coming from Houston trio

A trio of Houstonians have new BCS-conference Division I offers that were extended to them this week.
Klein Forest defensive lineman Kendrick Payne has racked up the frequent-flier miles over the past ten days with trips to Rice, Tulane and Iowa State. He will be visiting Arizona State this weekend and just received an offer from California, which he also plans on visiting.

"I really liked the Rice and Tulane coaches," he said. "Iowa State's players were really cool and I learned a lot more about their academics. I want to be an orthopedic doctor, so that is very important to me.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the West Coast schools," he said. "I don't really mind playing out of state. I'm just looking for a good fit athletically and academically."
University of Houston verbal commit Isiah Sweeney was recently offered by the Kansas Jayhawks, and he plans on visiting the Big 12 school in January.
"I'm still committed to Houston, but the coaching change has me thinking," he said. "Kansas has been on me for awhile and I'm going to visit them. I can also run track up there."
Sweeney's Hightower Hurricanes reached the Class 5A regional finals, but bowed out against the North Shore Mustangs.
"I had a pretty good season," he said. "I'm going to get the recruiting thing out of the way and start up with track."
Northwestern has extended a scholarship offer to Cy-Falls running back Shane Turner, who is currently setting up trips.
Turner will be visiting Fresno State on January 11th, followed by consecutive weekends at Boston College and Rice.
"I was just offered by Northwestern and will definitely set something up with them in weeks to come," he said.
Turner also has offers from New Mexico State and Arizona.
