The 2023 high school football season is just around the corner and there is sure to be no shortage of impressive performances across the country in August and September. Rivals national recruiting analyst Cole Patterson highlights five Mid-South prospects that he is excited to see in the early weeks of the season.

Sanchez will be under the spotlight this season as he looks to keep his spot atop the state rankings in Texas. The five-star corner is a long and lengthy defender with elite lockdown ability on the outside. He will get a tough matchup against a talented The Woodlands squad early in the season.

Moore just committed to LSU, so all eyes will naturally be on how the five-star performs as a junior. Moore will have his opportunities to showcase why he is the No. 1 WR in his class, starting with a clash against talent-heavy South Oak Cliff to kick the season off.

Lagway is one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2024 class. A big-armed signal caller that turns into a running back when running, Lagway has all the physical attributes that you could want. A big senior season could go a long way in the Florida commitment pushing himself further into the five-star conversation.

Umeozulu out of Allen passes the eye test with ease thanks to his long arm and big frame. He has flashed elite pass rushing ability but hasn’t necessarily put everything together. He will be under the microscope right out of the gate as he looks to move up the rankings, starting with a matchup against DFW powerhouse DeSoto.

Wesco committed to Clemson this summer and was one of the biggest risers in our June update. He is a long and lean receiver with electric after-the-catch ability to score from anywhere on the field. He’s on the brink of five-star status and a big start to his final high school season can lead to him earning that status.
