Things started feeling a little shaky between Michigan and Doyle during the inaugural early signing period when at the last minute he didn't sign. The 6-4, 210-pounder said that he talked with Jim Harbaugh and that things were still in good shape but it never felt quite right.

Not long after, news began to surface that Doyle was being asked to spend a year at a prep school. Doyle and his family were looking into that option but in the end, they decided that opening things up and signing elsewhere would be better than waiting another year.

Michigan now has 20 commitments in the 2018 class and is still chasing after Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep five-star offensive tackle Nick Petit-Frere and trying to hold on to Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County four-star outside linebacker Otis Reese as National Signing Day approaches.
