Miami nabs four-star lineman

Should his commitment stand the test of time, Navaughn Donaldson won't need to go far for college. The Miami (Fla.) Central product made the call on Sunday night, announcing his intentions to play for Miami.
The four-star junior-to-be is aware that there's a serious chunk of time between now and Signing Day 2017, of course. That said, he seems plenty confident in his early decision.

"I've been thinking about committing to Miami for awhile now," Donaldson said."It was the education. I talked to my family about it, and they all told me that it was about time I committed to The U."
A massive offensive lineman that could play either tackle or guard at the next level, Donaldson brings a touch of versatility to the Hurricanes' rapidly filling 2017 class. He also brings plenty of power. According to him, though, his future role is not even close to defined at this juncture.
"They haven;t told me where they want me to play yet," Donaldson said. "It doesn't really matter to me, though. Wherever I'm needed, I'll be there."
Donaldson says he will continue to take visits and attend camps throughout his junior and senior years He insists that his decision to do so is not indicative of a soft verbal commitment, though. Instead, he says, this is simply a case of a young prospect wanting to explore.
"For right now, The U is the only school I've visited a lot so far. I want to visit other schools, but The U is where I stand right now. I know I want to visit Georgia and North Carolina for sure.
Donaldson is ranked as the No. 6 offensive guard and the No. 134 overall prospect in the class of 2017. He will function as one of the anchors of the offensive line at Miami Central High School, a traditional power expected to make a run at another state title in the year ahead.
Donaldson chose Miami over an offer from Georgia, North Carolina, N.C. State and others.
