Mendoza looking hard at Big 12 schools

Houston (Texas) Spring Woods all-purpose back Marcus Mendoza has been laying low with his recruiting process. That hasn't stopped several schools from recruiting him hard throughout the summer months.
With scholarship offers in hand from the likes of Arizona, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Iowa, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and several others, Mendoza certainly has a lot to think about. Visits is the first thing he's put some thought into.

"Kansas State, Nebraska, OSU, and Texas Tech have been really recruiting me hard for a while now," Mendoza said. "They just check in with me and tell me to keep them in mind. I enjoy talking to coach Gunter Brewer at Oklahoma State quite a bit."
Mendoza says that he knows for sure on three schools he'll visit this fall.
"I know I'll get out and see K-State, Texas Tech, and OSU," Mendoza said. "I have already been on an unofficial visit to OSU and I really liked it. Kansas State, they were one of my first offers and they look like a really good school. I know a couple of people that go to Texas Tech and they've got a good program as well."
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Mendoza says that he'll wait until the end of the football season to make a decision. His high school journey will end earlier than originally expected and he doesn't want to wait too long.
"I wouldn't say I have any favorites," Mendoza said. "I'm just taking my time but I know that I'm graduating in December now for sure. It's a done deal and all the paperwork is filed."
