Memphis lands 3-star DT

The Memphis Tigers didn't have to go very far to land their latest commitment.
Defensive tackle Terry Redden of Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven, the state's fifth-rated player and a three-star prospect, informed Rivals.com Sunday night he had pledged to the hometown Tigers over Kansas.

Redden visited Memphis over the weekend.
"It went real well," he said.
In fact, according to Redden the trip rated as a perfect 10.
"They explained the program to me, and broke it down really well," Redden said. "I also got to hang out with other players. It's a great school. It's elite."
The Memphis campus is less than 10 minutes from Redden's home, which added to his comfort level with the Tigers. So did the fact early playing time is possible.
"The plan is for me to play early," the 6-foot-1, 277-pound Redden said. "It's all on me; how I grasp the defense and the terminology."
Besides Kansas, Redden also considered Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State and Northern Illinois. Asked if he would still make a planned visit to Kansas next weekend, Redden said he would not make that decision until Monday, but added the chances of that trip happening weren't very good.
"I'm comfortable with the choice I made," Redden said.
