Marquis Hayes’ stock is on the rise

ATLANTA – Maryland Heights (Mo.) Pattonville offensive guard Marquis Hayes held a handful of offers before attending the Kansas City Rivals Camp last month, but the newly-minted four-star prospect has seen his stock soar since winning MVP at that event and earning an invitation to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour.

THE LATEST: A day after his MVP performance, Hayes reeled in an offer from Kansas State. The close proximity of their campus to his home is appealing for Hayes and he will try to visit there this summer. Minnesota – a school that offered prior to his Rivals Camp performance – is also high on his priority list for a visit before senior season starts and he likes the Golden Gopher’s run-based offense. Hayes’ offer list is now in double digit figures, but he could be adding to it again in the near future.

IN HIS WORDS: “After the camp I saw a lot of stuff change and powerhouses coming in like Oklahoma and Michigan State – schools that had never contacted me before. I feel like I am building a relationship with Oklahoma. We talk on a daily basis on Twitter and sometimes text on the phone. They brought it to my attention to come down during the summer before practice starts back up. It's a possibility my family can take me down there. It's a good school, powerhouse school in the Big 12.”

RIVALS’ REACTION: With the increase in interest, Hayes has decided to take his recruiting process into senior year and make official visits before selecting his college destination. Besides Kansas State and Minnesota, Hayes also holds Power Five offers from Missouri, Illinois and Iowa State. Those schools are in relative close proximity to Hayes’ St. Louis-area residence, but distance from home does not appear to be a strong consideration here and this is a recruitment that has a long way to go.
