MAKING THE CASE: Which quarterbacks should finish as five-stars?

Senior seasons are finished and the All-American Bowl and Under Armour All-America Game are in the rear-view mirror. It is now time to make arrangements for the final rankings of the 2019 class.

In today’s Making The Case, a few Rivals.com analysts offer a statement on which wide receiver prospect should finish out the 2019 cycle as the top-ranked player at the position. Oklahoma signee Theo Wease currently holds that ranking but after the all-star events there could be a persuasive argument made for others.

“I’m not militant about Theo Wease being the No. 1 receiver if we’re being honest here. I also love Pickens and think he could be the top dog, but I certainly think the case can be made either way. Wease’s consistency needs to be noted. I’ve seen the Oklahoma signee at various events over the years and he’s never once been anything but spectacular. And while I know some of my colleagues will say he wasn’t quite as great as some of the other options during all-star week, I’ll suggest that practices in all-star setting shouldn’t count for much, especially considering Wease had four catches and a touchdown in the Under Armour All-America Game itself. Give me the guy that shows up when the lights come on, please and thank you.” – Florida Recruiting Analyst Rob Cassidy

“To me, Jadon Haselwood is the No 1 receiver in the country although it’s very close this year. Haselwood has good size, sneaky speed and he’s a great 50-50 ball guy. He’s also very strong and can’t be pressed easily and is very fluid in his routes. I think he had a chance to be special and Oklahoma is getting a potential superstar.” - National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell

"It's been quite a spirited debate for the No.1 wide receiver spot but I've been partial to George Pickens since I saw him in person over the summer. He has everything you look for in a wide receiver, from speed to size and athleticism to elite playmaking ability. What really puts Pickens in a class of his own in my eye is his competitiveness. He never takes a play off and it constantly engaged, even on plays where the ball doesn't come his way. Pickens hasn't been on the scene as long as guys like Haselwood and Wease, but I think he has the potential to be the most successful of the three." – Southeast Recruiting Analyst Woody Wommack
