Robert Hicks is certain this one will stick.

The one-time Auburn commit pledged his services to Louisville on Tuesday after months of publicly stating he favored the Cardinals. And while the surprise value wasn’t sky high, Hicks cares not. This is about fit, which the three-star linebacker says he’s now found in spades.

“Louisville Is The Best fit for me,” Hicks said via text message. “I love the coaching staff and the fan base they have there in Louisville.”

As is often the case in modern recruiting, he trumpeted his decision to the public with a tweet.

Hicks’ role as a Cardinal is already being defined. According to him, it’s the best part of his longstanding relationship with the Louisville coaching staff. Hicks is starting to get an idea on what’s expected of him upon his arrival on campus.

“They are going to use me as a middle linebacker or edge rusher,” he said.

Hicks attends Florida’s Miami High School. He is ranked as the No. 20 outside linebacker in the class of 2018 and the No. 82 overall prospect in the state of Florida.
