Louisville commit has FSU in solid second

The colleges that make up Marcus Riley’s bundle of scholarship offers are not standing on anything resembling equal footing. The speedy two-way player is committed to Louisville and happy with that choice. That said, he has a No. 2 firmly in place. Asked for an accurate snapshot of his recruitment, the Tallahassee-based prospect, cuts to the chase.

“Right now, it’s obviously Louisville on top,” Riley said. “It’s just the relationship I have with the coaches there. I just really feel comfortable with them. Florida State is right behind them right now, though. That’s for right now.”

The hometown Seminoles will always be a threat to make a push in Riley’s recruitment. For now, however, his eyes are fixated on the Cardinals. Riley will make a return trip to Louisville on March 4 and is already looking forward to the visit.

“It was legit there last time,” Riley said. “I like it there. I’m ready to get back.”

According to Riley, Louisville, Florida State, USF and UCF are the schools in most frequent contact. He offers no guess as to which school may be responsible for his next offer.

Riley, who could play safety or wide receiver at the next level, attends Tallahassee’s Rickards High School.

RIVALS REACTION: If Florida State is committed to pushing for Riley’s commitment, holding them off won’t be easy. Riley has a relationship with Louisville alum Sam Madison, which may help the Cardinals case down the stretch. Still, this seems like a two-team recruiting battle in the making.
