La Marque safety likes Gators

LA MARQUE, Texas - Safety James Thomas is part of a junior class that could be one of the best for La Marque High School that has come down the pipe in sometime and like the others, recruiting has already started.
Schools have definitely been watching the Cougar players not only in the senior class but in a very talented junior class that is full of starters. Considering the type of players that come out of La Marque each year, it says a lot when players like the 6-foot, 170-pound Thomas are on the field.

"We just work hard here and we strive to be the best," Thomas said. "I would say this is a championship team. If we continue to make stuff happen in practice, this could be the year for us. I just am trying to keep my A-B honor roll going so I can get recruited."
His excellent classroom habits make him not only a highly recruitable prospect on the field but off as well. Schools have taken notice.
"Northwestern, OSU, and Houston have been sending me mail and I hope Florida is one of those schools too," Thomas said. "I've been watching them since I was a little kid. I hope to hear something."
Thomas is part of a defensive backfield that includes several top prospects that include top juniors Joseph McDonald and Markus Frank.
La Marque is 2-0 on the year with wins over Bay City (Texas) High School and Galveston (Texas) Ball in back-to-back weeks.
