Jaycee Horn Returns to Georgia; Holds Over 20 Offers

After leaving Georgia for a couple of years and living in Mississippi his freshman and sophomore year, Jaycee Horn played only basketball. Last spring Horn returned to Georgia and decided to lace the pads up and to play football again.

It was a wise decision. He picked off seven passes his junior year and now the 6-foot-1, 170 pound cornerback holds over 20 offers.

"It all started after the season," said Horn. "In January Wake Forest offered me and now I have over 20 offers. I can say I did not really expect for it to happen this quick."

Since the Demon Deacons got the ball rolling a month ago, Horn has added offers from Duke, Louisville, Ole Miss, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and many others.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Having a father (Joe Horn) that played in the NFL helps me a lot," said Horn. "He tells me a lot of things that others don't hear. He has told me things that bothered him as a receiver in the NFL, so as a defensive back, that helps me a lot. I try to use everything he shares with me to get better.

"I have visited South Carolina and Wake Forest and I like both of those schools. At Wake Forest, I like the education they offer and I enjoyed the atmosphere at the basketball game. I was very comfortable there around the coaches too.

"At South Carolina, I liked the facilities and the living situation. I like that coach [Will] Muschamp and coach [Travaris] Robinson (defensive coordinator) have had a lot of success with defensive backs. That's a major plus for me. I also think me and coach Robinson our starting to gain a close relationship. We spent a lot of time together on campus.

"My relationships with coaches is very important. I have just started talking to most schools, so I want to see how things go, get on campus and just see where I am comfortable at.

"On the phone, I talk to coach [Dave] Sawvel (defensive coordinator) of Wake Forest a lot and I talk with the Missouri head coach (Barry Odom) a good bit too. Both of those schools are showing a lot of attention right now."

RIVALS REACTION: The recruiting process for Horn is in the infant stage. He has over 20 offers, but he has only taken two visits. His favorite schools growing up were Alabama and LSU because of their success at his position. He is not looking to make a decision until sometime during the season. This has all happened pretty fast for Horn and he is not even thinking about true favorites yet. Expect more offers to come his way as he starts to showcase his skills at camps this spring. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech could be next to offer.
