in December, Georgia Tech signed wide receiver Ryan King out of Grayson High in Loganville, Ga., and Geoff Collins and the Yellow Jackets hope to be building a recruiting pipeline to one of the top programs in the Peach State.

Now, 2021 athlete Jamal Haynes, King's teammate, has committed to the school on the Flats.

This decision was made late in 2019 and Haynes knew he would leave Atlanta a Yellow Jacket.

"I went into this visit Saturday planning to commit," said Haynes. "I have known Georgia Tech was the right school since early December.

"I have been talking to coach Dixon a lot, and talking to him is like talking to family. The visit today made me feel like family, and coach Collins and the coaches there are changing the culture and I think they are going to change things around."

Maryland and Purdue were the other schools on Haynes' list when he made his decision, but the 5-foot-8, 170 pound junior decided to stay home.

"I love the opportunity at Tech and what the coaches are doing there. I see their vision for the program, I see their vision for me and it was really a pretty easy decision.

"When I was talking to coach Collins in his office, he talked to me about how he excited about what I can do and how he wants me as a player, and right when he said that, I stood up and told him I am committing.

"He stood up, we hugged it out and it was exciting.

"Georgia Tech is the school for me and I feel at home there."

Haynes is very excited about the he will get to spend at Georgia Tech, but in his decision, he thought about his time after he leaves the program as well.

"It is about life after football too," said Haynes. "That is very big for me. When I was with the Rising Seniors, they talks about this, they stressed that, and I was able to really think about Georgia Tech and what they can do for me after football, and the Rising Seniors really showed me a lot with that.

"Georgia Tech will be a great fit for me when I am there and they will set me up for after i leave too. It is just a comfortable fit for me that will really help me."

Georgia Tech is recruiting Haynes to play the slot position and to return kicks.
