Is LB Shuey closing in on a decision

Linebacker Spencer Shuey continues to hold five scholarships. The 6-foot-4, 241-pounder is favoring one of the schools and believes a decision could happen once he visits in the next few weeks.
"I've got five offers from Kentucky, Marshall, Duke, Western Carolina and JMU," he said. "I've already talked to Duke, Kentucky and Marshall about visits.

"I'm supposed to go to Kentucky on September 6th when they play Norfolk State."
What does Shuey want to see in Lexington?
"I pretty much know a lot about Kentucky," he said. "My family used to live up there and I've been thinking about them a lot lately.
"There is a chance I could commit on that visit. They are the best offer on my plate and unless something comes in, it's definitely a chance."
The Wildcats are leading. Shuey discussed what he likes about them.
"I've been looking at their recruiting class for 2009," he said. "It's one of the best in the country. I'd love to be part of that. Plus, last year Kentucky improved a lot on the football field and beat the No. 1 team in the country. I think they are going to continue to get better, so why not jump on board."
The two-star prospect is favoring Kentucky, but mentioned a number of other schools are continuing to show interest including Clemson, NC State and Georgia Tech.
Shuey and his Charlotte (N.C.) South Mecklenberg teammates open the season on Friday.
"I think we're going to be really tough," he said. "I'm feeling 100%. I hit the weight room hard. I'm bigger, stronger and faster. I think I've definitely gained more knowledge of the game and have more experience this year."
