IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"Iowa has a great feel," Allen said. "They've been with me throughout this whole process. They stuck it out with me through this whole process and that's where the love is.

"I had a great time out there on my official visit," he said. "I learned a lot from coach Bell and specifically where I would be in his system. I love the academic part of it, going to see counselors and seeing how they can help me with my major and all that. It's the people out there too. I trust coach Ferentz, I trust coach Bell, I trust my teammates and we can make big things happen.

"I think, with my skill set and what I have to offer, I'll be able to be a run stopper and get pressure on QBs," said Allen. "The secondary did great this year and getting pressure on the QB only makes their job easier. "

RIVALS' REACTION...

Allen is a tough defensive lineman with good quickness and shows the strength to b a solid run defender at the next level. He'll need to speed a good amount of time refining his technique before seeing consistent playing time but he has the tools to contribute at a high level during his college career. The Hawkeyes have a smaller class of high school recruits this year and Allen is just the fifth commit rated at least four-stars.
