THE LATEST: A class-of-2022 prospect, wide receiver Syveion Ellis made an early choice when he committed to Florida back in April. So while there’s no reason to think he’ll have a change of heart there’s plenty of time for things to change before he signs a letter of intent two years from now. Below, Ellis discusses his commitment to UF and talks about schools such as Georgia and Alabama, both of which are getting involved in his recruitment.
IN HIS WORDS
ON SCHOOLS TRYING TO CHANGE HIS MIND:
“South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia right now.”
ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH GEORGIA:
“Georgia is great. That’s my hometown team. It’s really close to home. I like it up there every time I go.”
ON THE PITCH FROM GEORGIA:
“It’s really just the usual. They want me to stay home. They keep telling me how much they want to see me up there and how staying home is the move for me.”
ON WHAT HE’S HEARING FOR FLORIDA:
Florida is close to home, too. That’s been my dream school ever since I was little. Growing up, me and my grandfather used to watch the Gators. That was back when they had Percy [Harvin] and those guys.
ON WHICH COACHES AT UF HE’S CLOSE WITH:
Coach [Torrian] Gray and (assistant director of player personnel Keiwan Ratliff). Those two for sure. I’m close with all of them, really.
ON HIS ROLE AT UF:
They want to use me on the outside. But, like the say, if I gain about 20 more pounds, I’ll become a tight end. I don’t want that, though. I’m trying to stay outside.
ON UPCOMING VISITS:
“I’m going to go to Bama in July and I’ll be back up at Georgia again next weekend. I’m goin up to Oregon, too. I’m excited to get back to Georgia and to get to Alabama. I’m waiting on that Bama offer. I’m pretty sure it’s coming..”
