Interest continues for Wooten
Houston (Texas) Lamar 2016 three-star offensive lineman Dixie Wooten has yet to receive his first scholarship offer but the college interest is steadily arriving for the 6-foot-5, 322-pound standout.
"I've just been getting a lot from Texas, Oklahoma State, Cal, and Michigan State," Wooten said.

He has seen a number of coaches around the Lamar program and with teammates such as Holton Hill, J.W. Ketchum, Tyreik Gray, and Ronnie Wesley the coaches will continue to flock to practice. However, he knows one school came all the way down just to see him.
"Michigan State's o-line coach came down not too long ago to come see me," Wooten said.
As for unofficial visits, Wooten has not taken many trips but he did take one earlier in the fall.
"That was the only one that was close to me," Wooten said. "It was alright. They were playing against UNLV. A couple of friends were there."
He does not have any unofficial visits currently on his schedule, but he does have a couple of schools he would like to check out.
"We're about to start playoffs so not really," Wooten said. "After the season I may go visit a Mississippi State or a Texas or schools like that. Mississippi State is one I really want to go visit. Like the atmosphere and the people they hit me up on Twitter and they're so cool, calm, and collected. They're real nice people and I just want to go out there and see what it's like."
With the playoffs in his near future, Wooten is keeping his focus on the field. He has had some ups and downs during his junior season, but
"A lot of things have been going good," Wooten said. "There's little things where I slip up but mostly I've been doing well. Me and coach Green, the o-line coach, during lunch sometimes we'll go watch some film and text about some things. I've really been watching this lineman in the 2015 class Drew Richmond. He's at University High School in Memphis. I've been watching him a lot to see what makes him so good. Like his feet and all that and it's made me so much better."
Wooten and Lamar are currently 7-1 on the season and undefeated in district play. They face Houston Milby on Saturday.
