Houston still plans three trips

John Houston is not only one of the best prospects in the 2015 class but he's an unquestioned leader on the Gardena (Calif.) Serra team and he displayed that last weekend.
Moments after Serra lost to powerhouse Bellevue, Wash., Houston stepped up and accepted responsibility for the loss and talked about how this would be a tremendous learning experience for his team moving forward.

Bellevue runs a tricky Delaware Wing offense and Serra didn't have much success stopping it. Even though it was a different look, Houston said his team will learn to play better as a unit as the season continues.
"They're a great, excellent team that likes to finish," Houston said. "We gave them a hard time, their players were cramping up, their players have never been through that but as a unit we need to finish, keep our heads up, finish drives and get turnovers. That's basically what we have to do.
"We're building off this right now. As I speak I'm thinking about what we're going to do at practice, what we're going to do. We're going to do anything we need to do to make our team better as a unit. Every player did all right but we didn't completely do what we're supposed to do in games. We're supposed to execute, make plays and win the game."
Houston, rated as the second-best outside linebacker and the No. 25 prospect in the 2015 class by Rivals.com, does not have a tremendous amount going on with his recruitment right now.
The five-star standout still has plans to take official visits to Oregon, Oklahoma and Florida State but no dates have been figured out at this point. Houston plans to take his two other trips but destinations are undecided.
USC is another high-profile school on Houston's list and the Trojans defeated Stanford last weekend but Houston, in the heat of the moment, didn't have much of a reaction. Instead, he focused solely on his team after the loss.
"It's big for the team but I'm really not focused on them," Houston said of USC. "I'm focused on our game."
