The Houston Cougars may be going through some growing pains in the first year of Willie Fritz and second year as a member of the Big 12 conference, but the recruiting has been a highlight, especially among the underclassmen.

One day after traveling north to Fort Worth, Texas, and taking down TCU, Houston has landed a commitment, this one coming in the 2027 cycle. It is their first addition in the 2027 class, currently in their sophomore seasons.

Iowa Colony (Texas) wide receiver Aden "NuNu" Starling has announced his pledge to the Cougars.

Starling is currently unranked in the 2027 cycle.

Starling is a native of the Houston-area, spending his freshman season at Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek and currently at Iowa Colony, just 20 miles south of the University of Houston.

Staying home and playing with local talent was a goal of his and confirmed his wishes of playing for Houston.

"I feel that if all the top talent in the area stayed home we could take the program to a different level. So alongside Keisean (Henderson), I want to try and get everyone to stay at home and put on for the city! It’s right at home and feels like home."
