Houston-area sleeper getting play

At this time of year, the big names have probably already been gobbled up by the big programs.
It's sleeper-time over the next few months in recruiting and one name that keeps bounding around recruiting circles is Joseph Florence of La Marque (Texas) High School.

Florence (6-4, 200-pounds) has been bouncing between football and basketball, but made a difference on the gridiron starting this year.
"He played a few games last year but some basketball people convinced him to go straight basketball," La Marque coach Bryan Irwin said. "He came out this year and is our play-maker on offense. He's doing it on pure athletic ability because we haven't had him in an offseason yet."
The athletic senior ranks third in Greater Houston Class 4A for receiving yards with 611 on 34 receptions.
With some smaller offers in basketball, Florence is receiving interest from the likes of Rice, Baylor, Colorado and Missouri over the past few weeks.
"His future is in football," Irwin said. "We can throw it up to him and he can go get it. He and Jared Perry are good buddies and I know he went to the Missouri-Texas A&M game a couple of weeks ago. He will get offers."
It's no secret that La Marque has several Division I athletes this season, but the chance that two or three will go to one lucky school is a great possibility.
"I think Baylor or Missouri has a good chance at getting a couple of these guys," Irwin said. "J.T. (James Thomas) and Raphael Guidry are going together to Kansas State. They like Missouri and Baylor also. I've been hearing that Michael Ray likes Kansas, but that is just what I hear.
"What's great about this class is that they all have grades."
With Florence in the click, one lucky team could be in line for a talented three to one package.
