Gustin working at own pace
Approaches don't come more measured than the one Porter Gustin is taking with his college recruitment. Even at this juncture, Gustin shies away from releasing a list of "official" favorites. He's does diligence when setting up visits and plans to take all trips allotted to him before even considering a decision.

Gustin -- all 237 pounds of him - is methodical. He's already visited Notre Dame and has a trip to USC on the schedule for Nov. 28. And now, in true Gustin form, the four-star linebacker is slowly plotting his tour of Arizona State.
"I haven't made any plans for sure yet, but I'm thinking about Arizona State next," Gustin said. "I haven't exactly planned that. I've been there twice already, but I'm going to go back for that official.
Gustin's first two visits to Tempe came earlier in the year. He's beyond familiar with the program by now and obviously likes what he's discovered so far. But Gustin, being Gustin, is certainly interested in one more look.
"It was great the first few times," Gustin said. "the only setback was that it's really hot, but they have the indoor facility to practice in. It was great. "
A decision date for Gustin is predictably abstract at this juncture. In an ideal world, he'd take the time to digest all available options, but Gustin is committing to that course of action.
"I would like to take all my officials first," Gustin said. "But if a school really stands out on a visit, I might make my decision sooner. It probably won't be for a while, though."
A standout at Salem Hills (Utah) High School, Gustin plays both quarterback and linebacker for the Skyhawks despite his college future certainly being on defense. This season, he has racked up 134 tackles, including 10.5 sacks. He has also thrown for 2,521 yards and 22 touchdowns. All stats are according to Maxpreps.com.
