Throughout the recruiting process, Porter Gustin and his family have made it a priority to look far and wide in search of the perfect fit.

On Wednesday night, the five-star inside linebacker from Salem (Utah) Salem Hills took his second-to-last official visit, this time opting to stay close to home for a midweek trip.
"It was a fantastic visit to Utah," his father, John Gustin, said. "The Utes are first-class and have been since our first unofficial visit last April. Coach (Kyle) Whittingham and his staff are superb. We love the facilities and the direction they are headed as a program. They will definitely be a contender in the Pac-12 next year with a strong returning core on defense and multiple weapons on offense."
The question, of course, is whether Gustin will be a part of that. He officially visited Notre Dame during the season, but the Fighting Irish are no longer part of the discussion.
The 6-foot-5, 237-pound prospect also visited USC (Jan. 16) and Arizona State (Jan. 23) before throwing in front of major league scouts at a baseball showcase Wednesday night. USC assistants Peter Sirmon and Justin Wilcox were in attendance for the session, while the Sun Devils dropped by for a final in-home visit Thursday night following his trip to Utah.
Up next for Gustin is an official visit to Ohio State this final weekend before National Signing Day. Head coach Urban Meyer had his in-home with the Gustin family on Tuesday night.
"We look forward to spending time with coach Meyer, coach (Luke) Fickell, staff members and players," John Gustin said. "Coach Meyer is a winner and that is very enticing to Porter.
"Porter is a competitor and winning a championship is his greatest motivation, as well as getting prepared for that very opportunity."
Gustin is scheduled to announce his college decision on Feb. 3 at a ceremony at his school. He passed for over 2,800 yards and rushed for nearly 900 yards, totaling 32 touchdowns as a quarterback this past season. On defense, he had over 150 tackles, including 29 behind the line of scrimmage, to go along with 10.5 sacks and two interceptions.
