GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Not much was known about Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter center Camden Wentz prior to the NIKE Camp held this past Sunday in Gainesville, Fla. However, the 6-foot-4, 275-pounder not only put in a fine performance on the day, it turns out he has already committed to a school across the country.
"I committed to Stanford on March 18," said Wentz. "I went out there for their junior day in early March, came back home and decided that they were the school for me. I really liked the coaches, they were all young guys, and the education is top notch. Once you come out of there with a degree, you're all set."

Wentz, who was also hearing from Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Rutgers and others, also has family ties to California.
"My mom's family is from L.A. and the Palo Alto area is really nice but I know it's far away," he said. "So it will be good to have family out there. But location didn't really play a part. It was about the coaches, the feeling and the academics. It felt right."
Wentz will play either center or guard for the Cardinal.
"I don't have a preference, whatever gets me on the field," he said. "I just want to play."
