The Latest: Over the summer the Atlanta metro area was a hotbed for satellite camps and while the much-debated events didn't lead to many new scholarship offers, a few players benefited in a big one. One of those players is Class of 2017 defensive back Cantorian Weems. After camping in front of several schools over the summer he added a handful of offers, including one from Pac-12 program Oregon State. Since the Beavers offered a relationship between the two parties has flourished and now Weems is in the process of scheduling an official visit to Corvallis. Rivals.com caught up with Weems to get the latest on his recruitment and his visit plans for the fall.
In His Words: "Oregon State came down here for a satellite camp and saw me work out and that’s where I caught their attention. Coach Hall personally came down and they had two others there at the camp. We talk like every day now, about everything, about my team, my season, how school is going and everything like that. I’m defiantly taking an official visit there sometime in October. I think it’s going to be for the Washington State game. There’s a player from my school that plays for Washington State so it would be cool to take the visit and get to see him again. It’s their homecoming game there too so it’s going to be crazy on campus. I don’t know a whole lot about their program. I still have to do my research and see what else they have to offer."
Rivals Reaction: Weems is a bit of a sleeper but his season got off to a good start with a solid showing in Week 1. Oregon State clearly sees something in him and this is exactly the type of player the Beavers can steal out of the Southeast. Getting him on campus for an official visit will be huge, especially considering the school is dealing with smaller but closer programs like Georgia State and Appalachian State.
