After taking visits to Auburn and Georgia over the last two weekends, Caleb Tannor saw all he needed to see to know that his decision was right.
The four-star linebacker out of Lithonia (Ga.) Miller Grove has felt in his mind for a few months that Georgia was the right school for him and he now has acted on that feeling.
"I am a Georgia Bulldog," said Tannor. "It feels great to be committed to Georgia. I am now able to walk around calling myself a Bulldog and I have already started to vision myself playing inside Sanford Stadium and being there with the players every day."
Auburn made a great run at Tannor. Tennessee and a number of other schools were in the mix for the 6-foot-3, 235 pound playmaker as well, but the connection in Athens (Ga.) propelled the in-state program to the top.
"The coaches really made a big impact in my decision. I connected with all of the coaches. Coach [Kirby] Smart, coach [Kevin] Sherrer (outside linebackers), coach [James] Coley (wide receivers) and all of the coaches have been texting me, they all know me and the whole staff has made me feel important.
"The feeling I have around them is great. I just feel comfortable and they make me feel like I am part of the team already."
Despite the feelings Tannor has for the Bulldog coaches, that Athens is around an hour from his home and how he can play with guys he knows personally already there, the decision was not easy.
Auburn put up a strong fight.
"It was extremely tough to decide, but I have been feeling this way about Georgia for a while now, so in the end, I knew it was the right choice," said Tannor.
"It was a very tight race. It was neck-in-neck for a while, so it was close between the two. Georgia finished first, but is was stressful to get to this point because both schools are great."
After Miller Grove's spring game, Tannor dropped his top five the night of May 21, and it was at that time that he felt Georgia starting to pull away from the pack.
"I didn't want to tell anyone, but Georgia was No. 1 on my list late in the spring when I put out my top five. I have known for a little while now.
"When Georgia first offered me, they were behind a few schools, but the more and the more I visited Athens, the more and more I loved the school. I built a strong connection with the coaches and I just knew Georgia was the right school for me.
"I see the sky as the limit for Georgia. I see Kirby Smart doing big things there and now I get to be a part of that. I am excited about being a Bulldog."
These last two visits just sealed the deal, but another thing Tannor did not let out is that he actually committed to Smart and the Bulldogs weeks ago. His mind has been made up, but he wanted to trip to Auburn once more just to make sure.
"Oh yeah, I already knew this was happening and so did coach Smart," said Tannor. "He has known for a little while now. I have been committed to Georgia silently for a few weeks. I told him back in June I wanted to be a Bulldog."
