Recruiting Wrap: Washington is committed to Wake Forest.
Performance: Washington was the star of the Saturday night game even though St. John's didn't end up winning. On one of St. John's first half drives, Washington made a one-handed catch for about a 20-yard gain and scored on a 48-yard catch and run on the very next play. He added another long touchdown catch later in the game. Washington also had a very good game on defense, running sideline-to-sideline, making tackles and breaking up passes.
Grade: A
OL
Richie Petitbon
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Recruiting Wrap: Petitbon is committed to Alabama.
Performance: Petitbon was his dominant self and was particularly effective when run blocking. He plays with great leverage and uses those tree trunk legs to drive defensive linemen off the ball. When pass blocking, Petitbon did a good job of getting a solid initial punch on his man and riding them out of the play.
Grade: A
DE
Jalen Dalton
Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth
Recruiting Wrap: Dalton will choose between North Carolina and Virginia Tech on Thursday.
Performance: Dalton had a big impact on the game Friday night. His length really gave the offensive linemen and quarterback a hard time. Dalton maintained his edge and didn't let any runs get outside of him. He also did a very good job of getting pressure on the quarterback when really asserting himself. It was virtually impossible for the opposing quarterback to throw an accurate screen pass to Dalton's side because of his excellent length.
Grade: B
WR
Jabari Greenwood
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Recruiting Wrap: Greenwood is committed to Kentucky.
Performance: Greenwood was the most effective outside receiver for Gonzaga. He excels at running slant routes and has proven that throughout the year. As a bigger receiver with long arms, Greenwood is a big time target down the field. Greenwood runs crisp routes and there is a lot to like about his game at the high school level that translates to the college game.
Grade: B
RB
Kennedy McKoy (2016)
Lexington (N.C.) North Davidson
Recruiting Wrap: North Carolina, N.C. State, West Virginia and Charlotte have offered McKoy.
Performance: McKoy proved to be an every down back, running for 152 yards on 28 carries on Friday night. He scored one touchdown and became North Davidson's all-time scoring leader. McKoy showed some great toughness, excellent explosiveness and a good ability to plant and get upfield in a hurry. His patience was also impressive.
Grade: B
ATH
Darion Slade (2016)
Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth
Recruiting Wrap: Slade has offers from Duke, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
Performance: Slade took the majority of the snaps for West Forsyth and had an up and down night. He does not project as a quarterback but he was at his best when he was able to get out on the run and find the open receiver. Slade was particularly effective running the option. When Slade couldn't find an open receiver he did a very good job of picking up big chunks of yards on the ground.
Grade: B
LB
Kyle Taylor (2016)
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Recruiting Wrap: Iowa, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin have offered Taylor.
Performance: Taylor played a major part in Gonzaga's come-from-behind win. He did a very good job of sniffing out running plays up the middle and making the tackle in the hole or for a loss. Taylor proved to be a hard hitter and just an aggressive football player overall.
Grade: B
DE
Terrell Hall (2016)
Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High
Recruiting Wrap: Hall has offers from schools like Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Maryland and others.
Performance: Hall was a bit inconsistent against the good Gonzaga front but he got his fair share of tackles and did get a big sack on third down. There is no doubting his talent. Hall is very explosive off the line of scrimmage and his great length gives quarterbacks and offensive linemen problems. Hall also has very effective outside pass rushing moves.
Grade: B
QB
Nick Johns
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Recruiting Wrap: Johns is committed to Virginia.
Performance: Johns did a good job of finding the correct receiver to throw the ball to. He was very good at hitting Greenwood on slant patterns and getting the ball to his playmakers in the flat. Johns' arm strength was easy to see and he still delivered an accurate ball if he got hit in the pocket.
Grade: B
DE
Eric Assoua
Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High
Recruiting Wrap: Boston College, Toledo and Western Michigan have offered Assoua.
Performance: Assoua, like Hall, had a tall task going against the very good Gonzaga front. He was able to shed some blocks and get a couple of tackles for a loss and a couple of quarterback hurries. There is a lot of like about Assoua. He has excellent athleticism and, in the right defensive scheme, Assoua could be used as a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker.
Grade: B
RB
Reggie Corbin
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Recruiting Wrap: Corbin is committed to Illinois.
Performance: Corbin made plenty of big plays for Gonzaga, especially on third downs. He did a good job of getting to the edge and getting upfield for some crucial gains and was also an effective receiver, running hook routes over the middle. Corbin's toughness and determination with the ball in his hands was good to see.
Grade: B
DB
Ayron Monroe
Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High
Recruiting Wrap: Monroe is committed to Penn State.
Performance: Monroe got his fair share of tackles but had a bit of a quiet night. He did a good job of coming up hard to make tackles on runs and his toughness was very evident by the way he was shedding blocks. Monroe has a bright future ahead of him because he can be a real enforcer in the secondary and has a good nose for the ball.
Grade: B
DB
Marcus Lewis
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Recruiting Wrap: Lewis has taken an official visit to Washington State and has officials planed to Kentucky, Ole Miss and Miami. Georgia is also in the mix.
Performance: Lewis was a little nicked early in the game on Saturday night. He tried to play through it but it didn't turn out well. He let up a long touchdown and missed a tackle that would have prevented another. Lewis still made a few tackles but did not play for the majority of the second half.
Grade: C
OTHER PROSPECTS
TE
Devante Brooks (2016)
Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High
Brooks is one of the top players in the 2016 class but tore his ACL in the summer and has not played since. Some of his top schools are Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
RB
Tyree Randolph (2017)
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Gonzaga turned to their run game in the second half and Randolph was the big beneficiary. He scored twice in the second half, the last one with only a few minutes left in the game. Just 5-foot-7, 170-pounds, Randolph is a little undersized right now but, as a sophomore, Randolph still has time to get bigger.
ATH
Aaron Hansford (2016)
Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High
Hansford has a ton of athleticism and saw time on offense, defense and special teams. Depending on how he develops, Hansford could be a very good outside linebacker.
