As one of only 20 members of the 2014 class scheduled to compete in the upcoming Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge, Sandy Creek (Ga.) wide receiver Demarre Kitt has just one thing on his mind.

"I want to prove that I'm not hype, and I'm the real deal," said Kitt, a Georgia commit.

Although he'll just be a junior this fall, there's been plenty of reason for the Bulldogs to get excited.

As a sophomore playing with incoming Auburn freshman JaQuay Williams, Kitt showed some big-play potential of his own, catching 42 passes for 651 yards and 10 touchdowns.

But it has been his performance at recent camps, including this past spring's VTO event in Marietta, that made analysts take notice and earned him his ticket to the upcoming Challenge.

"Kitt is already a pretty polished receiver," Rivals analyst Keith Niebuhr wrote in his evaluation of the 6-foot, 190-pounder.

"He shined against an outstanding group of defensive backs, largely because he's getting off the ball and he gets in and out of his breaks better than most to create separation."

However, while Kitt has impressed against players predominantly from his home state of Georgia, he knows he'll need to step it up to an entirely different level if he wants to have the same success at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge, scheduled for June 22-24 at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta.

With a bevy of top-flight cornerbacks such as Oklahoma commit Stanvon Taylor, Ohio State commit Eli Woodard, Texas commit Antwuan Davis among others, including Sandy Creek teammate Shaquille Wiggins, Kitt figures to be tested like never before.

It's a challenge he welcomes.

"The best thing about it (the Challenge) is the people who are going to be here," Kitt said. "There's guys coming from all over the nation; it's going to be some stiff competition."

But just because he'll be one of the youngsters taking part against players predominately more experienced than he is, Kitt says the pressure won't be any greater than usual.

"No, there's not any more pressure," Kitt said. "It (being in the Challenge) already gives me the reality that I'm one of the top players in next year's class."

Still, Kitt said he isn't satisfied with being in Atlanta, adding that he realizes with a strong showing he could shoot up the rankings even more, and perhaps put himself in position to be the top receiver for 2014.

"I just need to keep working harder and harder to get better. It's really all up to me," he said. "I'm looking forward to it because it's going to give me chance to go against different competition, good players that I'll be going against once I get to college."

His goal once he steps on the field?

"To be one of the best," Kitt said. "I want to make my name known."

Many people feel that Kitt is the No. 1 wide receiver in the state of Georgia next year and he will have a chance to prove that at this event. He'll be going against some of the top cornerbacks in the country and older prospects, so the biggest question is whether he'll be able to get off the line effectively. Kitt is a talented prospect and he showed he can hang with the best at camps already this spring, but this is a different level. Is he tops in Georgia for 2014 at his position? We will see.
