LOS ANGELES - Mycah Pittman grew up in the Tampa Bay area so when Florida offered recently it was a big deal to the four-star receiver who now plays at Calabasas, Calif.

Pittman’s father, Michael, played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 2019 four-star standout said last weekend at the Premium Showcase that he grew up watching Florida. He likes the Gators a whole lot.

“I’m definitely going to check out Florida,” Pittman said. “Florida is my hometown so it would be great to bring back memories, go check out my elementary school. It will get me teared up a little bit but I loved it out there and it was an awesome experience.

“I love the Florida fans. When my dad was playing for Tampa Bay they were always showing love to me as a little kid and my pops was a big-time athlete out there and everybody knew who he was. I like the love over there.

“I always grew up liking the Florida Gators because of Tim Tebow. He was the big-time guy back then and Aaron Hernandez. They were like the dynamic duo. I just loved their jerseys. As a little kid you like colors so I liked their bright jerseys.”

Another team that has absolutely captured Pittman’s attention early on is Ohio State. The Calabasas recruit has had extensive talks with position coach Zach Smith and an official visit this spring to Columbus is a strong likelihood.

“Ohio State is definitely strong for my official visits in the spring,” Pittman said.

“Ohio State is losing a couple of their receivers and their receivers coach has been talking to me and telling me I can come in and make a big impact my freshman year. I’ll be more than open to that. That’s my main goal. That’s why I’m training so hard and working so hard. I’m taking this offseason personally and I’m trying to be the best I can be.”

In his junior season, Pittman finished with 60 catches for 1,027 yards and 11 touchdowns. His brother, Michael, plays at USC. LSU offered the four-star receiver Friday morning.
