Four-star tight end plans to visit, Miami, Georgia, Clemson, others

THE LATEST: Will Mallory is, for now, listed as a wide receiver. The massive target will almost undoubtedly play tight end in college. That’s all but settled. What’s not settled is just which college he’ll attend. Don’t expect much help from Mallory solving that, however, as the four-star prospect is sticking with the familiar no-leaders talking point for the time being.

He will, however, discuss which school he hears from the most. Mallory says he’s forged quite a relationship with the staff at Miami. He’s visited in the past and hopes to make a return trip down from his Jacksonville home in the near future.

“I just like the people there and the coaches,” Mallory said of Miami. “I’m going to try to get back down and see them soon. They came and visited me a bunch so, I want to get back there.”

But there are other visits kicking around Mallory’s mind as well. He even has some penciled into his calendar. This offseason, it seems, will be one full of travel.

“I know I’m going to Georgia and Clemson,” Mallory said. “I’ve been to Clemson already – once for a game. I loved it. I thought it was awesome. I didn’t get to see a lot of the campus because it was a night game, so I want to go back and see the new facilities and all that.”

Mallory has added size in recent months but will need to add more before he’s ready to play tight end in college. He has plenty of time to do so, however, and should be fine on that front. He attends the Jacksonville Providence School and is a top-50 player in the state of Florida.

IN HIS WORDS: “I really don’t know when I’ll [commit]. Probably during football season – in the middle of the season. I don’t know for sure.”

RIVALS REACTION: This is one of those Who-knows situations. All three schools set to get visits from Mallory seem to be serious players. Clemson and Miami may stand out of the pack a little, but Georgia, Michigan and others remain in play. Mallory is the rare player that may not have any which school leads the pack at this juncture, so the coming months will help him establish an internal pecking order.
