LSU started off the fireworks bright and early on this July 4 morning, landing a big commitment, both literally and figuratively.
Class of 2025 Lufkin (Texas) four-star defensive tackle Zion Williams announced his pledge to the Tigers just before 8 am CT this morning.
Williams, 6-foot-4, 330-pounds, is the No. 20 ranked defensive tackle in the 2025 class.
Williams chose LSU over offers from Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, USC, Florida, TCU, and Arkansas, among others.
Williams joins an LSU class that now holds 13 total commitments, of which all but one are currently four-stars or better. The class currently ranks as the No. 11 class in the Recruiting Team Rankings. LSU has the least amount of commitments of any team in the top-11.
There are now two defensive lineman in the Tigers' 2025 haul as Williams joins four-star defensive end LaJesse Harrold. There has been a focus for LSU on the offensive side of the ball to point in this cycle, holding commitments from nine offensive prospects to just four defensive.
