LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Four-star running back Anthony Davis has already visited Pitt and has trips to Louisville and North Carolina on deck. The group makes up his current top three, but that, it seems, is subject to change should something shake on the offer front.
“I think maybe I might get an Oregon offer,” Davis said on Tuesday. “They seem close.”
In the recent past, Davis has been a mystery man of sorts – never naming favorites and rarely saying anything of substance. Should the status quo remain, however, it seems as though the Rivals250 prospect will land on the campus of one of his three current finalists. That, in itself, counts as a development in this case.
It seems that Davis recruitment is finally taking shape and upcoming trips to Louisville and UNC will help advance the narrative.
“North Carolina will be January 11th until the 13th,” Davis said. “Louisville is the 27th through the 30th. With Louisville, I have a good relationship with the coaches. With North Carolina, I like the depth chart they need a couple back.
“I loved it when I went [to Pitt]. I have a good relationship with the coaches and the players. I saw snow for the first time, too. I got used to it.”
A Rivals250 member who played his high school career at Lakeland (Fla.) High School, Davis plans to announce his commitment shortly following his final official visit.
RIVALS REACTION: If an Oregon offer arrived for Davis, it may impact things but it will more likely be too little too late. Louisville and Pitt have to be viewed as the co-leaders at this juncture. North Carolina is not to be ruled out, however, but it will take an outstanding visit for the Tar Heels to snatch Davis’ commitment.
