THE LATEST

After generating more than 20 scholarship offers, McGrone announced Sunday evening that Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin were the six schools that would continue on to battle for his commitment. His plan from here is to carry this top six into his senior season and take official visits. Michigan makes the list after the Wolverines became his 21st and most recent offer on June 22, when he visited Ann Arbor.

IN HIS WORDS

“Michigan definitely met my expectations. I knew it was going to be a great school and also how great the coaches would be. Michigan just has so much to offer, just like these other schools. I felt the same way there as I did when I visited the other five: very comfortable. That's why they made my top.”

“All of the schools in my top, they all had (one) thing in common. That thing was a very high comfort level. I felt as if I was in a second home.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Notre Dame and Wisconsin were schools McGrone had already revealed would make the cut when it came. Michigan sealed their spot with an offer and positive visit this past Thursday. Indiana is the home-state school and Tennessee has already pulled a four-star linebacker out of Lawrence Central High – Darrin Kirkland Jr. in the 2015 class. Vanderbilt may be the biggest surprise inclusion just because they have not been mentioned as prominently as the others in McGrone’s recruitment, but as he said, there is a lot of comfort there for him. While the top contenders are now known for sure, there is a lot of recruiting yet to be done in this one.
