Four-star Ayodele Adeoye recaps Iowa visit

When the class of 2018 ratings were updated last week, Ritenour High linebacker Ayodele Adeoye became the fourth St. Louis prospect to earn four stars. His star rise has coincided with a wave of new scholarship offers. One of those new offers came from Iowa, where he visited on Sunday for a junior day.

THE LATEST

Adeoeye was not sure if he would be able to make it to Sunday’s junior day in Iowa City, but was able to catch a ride with fellow St. Louis four-star Michael Thompson so he could attend what ended up being a star-studded event for the Hawkeyes. The rise of Adeoye’s stock has certainly been meteoric. He picked up his first offer on Jan. 24 from the in-state Missouri Tigers, and is already up to 19 total offers. Iowa came in about mid-way through that wave, and Sunday’s trip was his first time on their campus.

IN HIS WORDS

“I went up there, met with the coach and it went well. I talked to Coach (Kirk) Ferentz and I believe he is a good coach. Coach (LeVar) Woods, I’ve had a relationship with him since my sophomore year and I’m looking forward to building it more. Everything I saw at Iowa I was pretty much expecting.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Adeoye said Sunday’s visit did not sway his feeling about Iowa too far in either direction. He is early in his process and made a specific point that he is not leaning toward any schools, though some schools that offered but did not follow up with contact are starting to be eliminated. Among the schools Adeoye said he has talking to most consistently are LSU, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Ole Miss.
