JASPER, Texas — Many (La.) four-star athlete Tylen Singleton saw a rise in the recent Rivals rankings update as he now sits as the No. 32 overall prospect in the country and the No. 1 prospect from Louisiana.
For Singleton, he's just excited to be back on the field for his anticipated junior season this week as he looks to lead his team to another state championship.
"It feels amazing getting back on the field," Singleton said after his team's scrimmage win against Jasper (TX). "I didn't get much ball action tonight but it was good seeing my brothers make some plays."
Schools are beginning to turn up the heat on Singleton with Sept. 1 around the corner as he has started to hear an increased pitch for a safety/linebacker hybrid role in college defenses.
Notre Dame is a program that has made a big early impact because of a key relationship with special teams coordinator Brian Mason.
"I talk to Coach Mason," he said. "Sometimes I'll call him though and it'll be the whole coaching staff. The culture and coaching staff are amazing. The coaching staff loves me and the facilities are great. They want me bad."
Arkansas is also at the top for Singleton as Sam Pittman has played a key role in having the Razorbacks in the mix.
"Coach Pittman loves me, the whole coaching staff too," he said. "I talk to the DB coach and it's the same thing as Notre Dame, they're in a head-to-head race right now."
LSU is another school that Singleton mentioned, but the Tigers won't get the home-state boost for the four-star.
"It's really just another school for me," he said.
With Singleton's teammate, 2023 four-star linebacker Tackett Curtis, committed to USC, the Trojans are starting to lurk among the contenders for Singleton as he plans to get out to Los Angeles when Curtis arrives.
"I'm gonna go surely visit them this spring or summer," he said.
As for programs that have not offered, Ohio State, Kentucky and Oregon are schools he would like offers from going forward.
As for his junior season, Singleton is looking forward to becoming a leader for his team as they power through Louisiana's 2A ranks.
"More offers, help the team lead and show the younger guys how to lead a team so when Tackett leaves, I can be the leader that he was," he said.
At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Singleton is the No. 32 ranked recruit in the country for the class of 2024, according to Rivals. He is the No. 1 recruit from the state of Louisiana and the No. 11 ranked athlete in the country.
