Florida State is starting to make serious in-roads with top Southern California recruits especially since coach Willie Taggart’s hiring and one 2019 offer that has already gone out is to three-star quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon standout had a tremendous junior season leading his team to the state championship game and throwing for 5,139 yards with 62 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 1,292 yards and 15 scores.
Those types of stats will catch anyone’s eye. It caught Florida State’s and now he has an offer from the Seminoles.
It's definitely a big one.
“I was on the phone with coach (Taggart),” Daniels said.
“He told me he liked my style and he offered me. I mean it’s a prestigious school, a lot of tradition, but I’m still open to everybody.”
So far, the San Bernardino Cajon standout has landed offers from Arizona, Florida State, Nevada and New Mexico.
With his junior season just wrapping up, Daniels said Iowa State and Utah have reached out with new interest but it’s expected many other top programs will get involved soon.
