Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M just made a loud statement on the recruiting trail.

Five-star Denton (Texas) Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill announced his commitment to the Aggies on Saturday, giving Fisher and company a massive win over in-state rival Texas.

Hill is the No. 1 linebacker in the nation. His game is perfect for the modern linebacker position, able to play in the box and get sideline-to-sideline. He has a great frame at 6-2 and 228 and also runs track. His all-around game and athletic profile points to a high ceiling in College Station with long-term NFL potential.

Hill held an offer sheet that featured major programs from all over the nation. Alabama, Oklahoma, USC, and Miami were all contenders for the five-star at one point in the process. Ultimately, Hill trimmed his list of suitors to the Aggies and the Longhorns.

“I have a good bond with both coaching staffs. It’s really going to come down to whatever I want to do and whatever is better for my family,” Hill told Rivals this week. “I’m going to bring (the program) a hard worker.”

Texas A&M inked one of the most impressive classes in modern recruiting history in 2022. The defensive line haul that the Aggies brought in was headlined by five-stars Walter Nolen and Shemar Stewart.

Hill was attracted to playing linebacker behind that group up front, as the Aggies pitched the elite talent on being the final piece to the puzzle.

Anthony Hill immediately becomes the highest-rated member of the Aggies' 2023 class. Texas A&M remains in serious play to land fellow five-star prospects TJ Shanahan Jr., Javien Toviano, and David Hicks Jr.

After a relatively slow start to the 2023 cycle, this is the type of commitment that can really get the ball rolling for Jimbo Fisher.
