The Rivals.com Five-Star Academy is heading to Virginia once again. After a one-year hiatus in the state, Rivals.com will be hosting two educational events in the month of March, one in the Richmond, Va., area and one in Chesapeake, Va. And once again the biggest names from Virginia as well as from Maryland and D.C. including Harrisonburg, Va., offensive lineman Landon Turner will be in attendance.

The first Five-Star Academy in the state will be held on Saturday, March 20 at noon at Highland Springs High School just outside of Richmond. Past attendees to this event include former five stars Marvin Austin and Arrelious Benn as well as former four-stars Ryan Williams, Donald Langley, Mike Glennon, Morgan Moses, Logan Thomas, Zack McCray, Davon Morgan and others.
Turner, a 6-foot-5, 304-pounder with early offers from Virginia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland and others, is one of the state's top prospects and will be on hand in the Richmond area event. Others expected to attend the Richmond event include defensive end Corey Marshall from Dinwiddie, Va., linebacker Conner Crowell from Waldorf (Md.) North Point, quarterback Kevin Hogan from Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga and others.
The Richmond event allows recruits to get answers to important questions about the recruiting process as well as update their Rivals.com profiles with accurate heights and weights, photos and video. Our featured speaker for the Richmond event is Highland Springs head coach Loren Johnson who guided current Virginia Tech phenom Ryan Williams and others through the process.
The second Five-Star Academy will be held on Saturday, March 27 at noon at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va. Past attendees to this event include former four-stars E.J. Manuel, Vinston Painter, Tajh Boyd, Logan Heastie, Kevin Newsome, Jerod Askew, Tim Smith, Phillip Sims and others.
Among those expected to attend the Chesapeake event include Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith wide receiver Quinta Funderburke and linebacker/safety Raysean Richardson, Virginia Beach (Va.) First Colonial offensive lineman Connor Mewbourne and Hampton (Va.) Phoebus linebacker Caleb Taylor.
The Chesapeake event will also allow recruits to get answers to important questions about the recruiting process as well as update their Rivals.com profiles with accurate heights and weights, photos and video. Our featured speaker for the Chesapeake event is Oscar Smith head coach Richard Morgan who guided Elite 11 quarterback Phillip Sims and others through the process.
Prospects will learn what is required to get academically qualified for college, how to garner the most attention from recruiters, how to interact with college coaches and most importantly how to make the right decision for the right reasons.
This is NOT A CAMP and is invite only. If you are the coach or parent of a D-I recruit in the class of 2011 or 2012 who would like to inquire about attending either event, you can e-mail Rivals.com Recruiting Analyst Mike Farrell at mike@rivals.com.
