When Blake Barnett de-committed from Notre Dame in early June, almost everyone believed that he would pick Oregon. Even Barnett basically said as much privately at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour in Baltimore. Nothing was for sure but the four-star quarterback loved the Ducks and how he would fit in that offense. But after taking a surprise visit to Alabama later in June, he decided the Crimson Tide was the right team for him even though he's a dual-threat quarterback and Alabama doesn't run from that position all that much. It was one of the bigger shockers of the summer. -- Gorney |

After committing to Maryland on June 12, Ali flipped to Temple following a visit to the Philadelphia campus. It caught nearly everyone by surprise; most were skeptical that a four-star player would decommit from an ACC school to go to Temple, which plays in the American Athletic Conference. Ali had visited Temple a number of times in the past and has a lot of relationships there because his dad played for the Owls. Still, not many people thought a flip would occur. -- Rivals.com Mid-Atlantic analyst Adam Friedman |

Ofodile has a family tie to Missouri and he grew up a fan of the program. Throw in the fact that his family home is mere miles away from the Mizzou campus and the fact that he is committed to Oregon is a touch surprising. The Tigers are coming off an incredible season, so to have one of the state's top prospects pack his bags for the West Coast is a bit of a gut punch. Ofodile fell in love with the facilities and recent success of the Ducks, a program that offered things that even the home state program could not.- Cassidy |

Campbell's decision to choose Florida State surprised a few and the reasons are two-fold. First, he was committed to Michigan, so Wolverines fans assumed the four-star had spurned what many had thought to be his favorite in Florida. But the 6-foot-3, 183-pound Campbell's commitment to Michigan - he committed in July of last year - lasted all of five months. Some took Campbell's de-commitment as a sign he was again leaning toward Florida. But in early September, he announced he had decided on Florida State. It's unclear whether Campbell may consider de-committing a second time, but assuming he doesn't, he may have surprised a few by choosing the defending national champions. -- Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Adam Krohn |

It's well established McCloud is one of the most versatile prospects in the country. And the five-star athlete's versatility extends beyond the playing field and into his recruiting process. For the third consecutive week, he's managed to qualify for our "First and 10" feature. For the first installment of this series, he was a "Mighty Mite" because at 5-foot-9, 176 pounds, he's a physical athlete who packs a punch. He was also one of the country's biggest "Out-of-State Grabs" for choosing Clemson. McCloud's choice of Clemson created a buzz since many thought Florida was his destination. Even when Rivals.com reached out to his father just days before McCloud's announcement, the father said it was a race between Florida and UCLA and that Clemson had fallen behind. As it stands, Dabo Swinney is getting another athlete to work with, and coupling McCloud with Deshaun Watson could make some major waves in the ACC next year. -- Krohn |

Every member of the media that covers recruiting is closely watching Florida State's 2015 class of quarterbacks. As of now, Locksley, De'Andre Francois and Deondre Johnson are all committed the Seminoles but it remains to be seen who will actually sign with Florida State. Locksley was rumored to be leaning towards Texas days before his announcement but he shocked world by committing to Florida State minutes before Francois, who was viewed as a shoe-in. -- Friedman |

Late last month Barnett held a ceremony at his school to sign his financial aid papers. With friends and family gathered, the Florida State commit was supposed to sign with the Seminoles, guaranteeing him a spot in the class and the ability to enroll early in Tallahassee in January. Then out of nowhere Barnett shocked everyone, pulling out a Georgia hat and instead signing with the Dawgs. It was the third commitment of the 2015 cycle for Barnett - he originally committed to Virginia Tech - but with his signature on the dotted line and plans to enroll early, it will likely be his last. Georgia's class is loaded with defensive line prospects already, and Barnett will likely be one of the last. Either way, he was definitely the most surprising to date. -- Wommack |

Dwayne Williams is a fixture at Florida State, having played for the Seminoles as a fullback in the 1980s. Couple that with Florida State winning a national championship and it seemed a foregone conclusion Garrett Williams was destined for Tallahassee. But as anyone who followed Peyton Manning's recruiting process knows, it's not about where your dad played - it's which program fits the best. For Williams, a four-star tight end, the choice of Clemson was easy even though it surprised many Seminoles fans. Williams seems to have a better connection with the Tigers staff and that's what likely led to what for him was probably an easy choice. -- Krohn |
