RIVALS' REACTION...

This was a big recruiting win for LSU. Womack had been heavily pursued by Georgia, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Maryland but his visit to Baton Rouge really helped seal the deal for the Tigers. His relationships with former teammate Jordan Toles, recruiting coach Sherman Wilson, and Jamar Cain were a triple threat that none of his other finalists could top.

In Womack, LSU is getting a tough, physical, and very talented prospect. He is technically advanced with a number of very effective pass rushing moves that help him create chaos in the backfield. Womack has above average playing strength and uses solid leverage to hold up at the point of attack. He has no problem disengaging from offensive lineman and pursuing the ball carrier. Womack has the athletic traits that wold allow him to stand up and play in space or play on the edge of the defense. How much time he sees as a standup edge defender will depend on how his body reacts the to the strength and conditioning program in Baton Rouge.

LSU overcame more than the pull of other contenders to land Womack's commitment. The St. Frances Academy program is one of the most talented in the nation but LSU essentially destroyed their relationship with the program back in the 2020 recruiting cycle when they pulled their scholarship offer for defensive end Demon Clowney right before the Early Signing Period. Brian Kelly and his new staff at LSU have obviously done a terrific job repairing that relationship and there will surely be additional members of the St. Frances program that seriously consider LSU in the future.
