As is the case every year at this time, prospects across the country were counting on spring and summer camp opportunities to raise their recruiting stock. But those camps have all been wiped out by the coronavirus shutdown. Here are five defensive prospects from the East Coast who would have benefited from the spring and summer camp circuit.

On film, David hits like a ton of bricks and flies around the secondary in a really impressive fashion. He’s picked up a lot of offers this spring, but it has been difficult for coaches to get a grasp on his skill level because the level of competition isn’t great and not many have been able to see him in person. David just released a top six of Miami, Oklahoma, Indiana, Michigan, Louisville and Boston College but taking some visits this offseason would have been really helpful in this decision-making process.

McMillon’s rating has been a hot-button issue in the recruiting world for months because so few scouts have actually gotten a chance to see him live. The spring evaluation period and camp season would have given everybody, scouts and coaches, a better idea of the type of player he is and where he is in his development. His film is good and he clearly shows impressive potential, but competing against elite competition at college camps and other events would have been a great opportunity for him. McMillon’s offer sheet is loaded and recently released a top 10 that includes Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon, Penn State, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and Arizona State.

Clemson’s newest commitment has an outstanding skill set, but there is a lot that everybody would have learned about him during the spring evaluation period. He put up great stats last season against subpar competition, but his explosiveness and balance really jump off the film. As a former basketball player with a very lean frame, checking out his physical development and the progress he’s made on that front would have helped his stock.

This was going to be a huge offseason for Silver to prove he’s one of the top defensive prospects in the nation. The North Carolina commit has been improving year by year and this offseason was going to be the time to show off the progress he’s made. Showing off his technical and physical development will have to wait until the season.

Wilson is a really explosive edge rusher that plays with a lot of intensity. He impressed during a game against Virginia Beach (Va.) Princess Anne last year but performances this spring could have earned him a lot more notoriety. Wilson has been working on his technique and showing off how high his ceiling is in front of college coaches and scouts could have put his recruitment on a different trajectory. Penn State, Tennessee, Oregon, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, South Carolina and Arizona State are his top contenders.
