As is the case every year at this time, prospects across the country were counting on spring and summer camp opportunities to raise their recruiting stock. But those camps have all been wiped out by the coronavirus shutdown. Here are five defensive prospects from the Southeast who would have benefited from the spring and summer camp circuit.

Hallman has a few Power Five offers, but still seems under-recruited. He missed a healthy chunk of last off-season with an injury and has seen this off-season stolen by the COVID-19 crisis, so the South Florida-based defensive back has fewer opportunities than he should at this juncture despite boasting solid film. It’s easy to get the feeling that the 6-foot cornerback’s options would have grown had he been allowed to showcase his skill set at college camps. As things stand, Wisconsin seems to be the most involved party.

At 6-foot-3, Frazier has incredible length. And while he might seem to be a bit of a tweener, those that have seen him in person are confident he can play safety at the college level. Frazier, who won a state title at Miami Northwestern a year ago, has the size and athleticism that wows coaches in camp settings. So while he holds offers from Pittsburgh, Illinois and UFC, the summer camp circuit would have almost certainly catapulted his recruitment to the next level.

Another prospect with an impressive build, Snyder showed he was more than just a physical specimen at this year’s Rivals Camp Series stop in Orlando. There, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder proved to be impressive in coverage for a linebacker of his size, staying with smaller running backs further downfield than he’ll ever be asked to cover in a game. He seemed primed for a big off-season until COVID-19 wiped out the event schedule. Snyder has a long list of Group of Five offers as things stand, but he could definitely help a large number of Power Five teams.

Sewell is a very intriguing defensive back who is getting somewhat overlooked right now. He has good length, he is athletic, he has ball skills and he just needs to be seen in coverage. As a junior he played safety, so he was not able to show his coverage skills too often. Before things were shut down this spring, Rivals.com saw Sewell and left very impressed. He was recently offered by Wofford, and Duke, Maryland and Tulane offered last year. Georgia Tech, Louisville and Mississippi State are showing interest. Expect his offer list to grow in the fall as schools see his tape at cornerback.

Charles is a versatile athlete, and he could be listed as an offensive or defensive prospect, but his future is likely at defensive back. He plays all over for his high school team and he has picked up numerous offers this spring. But if he would have been able to get out on the camp circuit to compete at cornerback, get his official measurements and turn in an official time in the 40-yard dash, then he is one who could have seen his recruitment take off. Still, offers are in from Georgia Tech, Indiana, Vanderbilt and Tennessee, but he is on many more teams' radars that just want to see him.
