Momentum on the recruiting trail can be a funny thing, but when a team has it commitments can come in bunches. North Carolina’s commitment Friday from linebacker Raneiria Dillworth could have an effect on multiple highly coveted prospects.

The Tar Heels are doing a great job reeling in many of the top in-state prospects and they could be in line to land a few more. Take a look at the domino effect that could follow Dillworth’s commitment.

Dillworth and Ritzie have been close friends for a very long time. The Kernersville natives work out together and hang out together often, so the Tar Heels will have some more help recruiting Ritzie.

South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and a few others are trying really hard to get Ritzie but a decision isn’t imminent. Expect Ritzie to take his visits and wait to announce a commitment in the late summer or during the season.

Page’s recruitment has already felt like somewhat of a roller coaster. Powerhouse programs from across the country would like to land his commitment, but he just narrowed his focus again. Page had a top five of North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Clemson and LSU, but only the Tar Heels, Vols and Clemson remain in contention.

Clemson has been viewed as the favorite, but North Carolina has closed the gap significantly. With Dillworth now committed to the Tar Heels, expect Page and his family to hear from Dillworth a lot more. Momentum appears to be on North Carolina’s side here, but fighting off Clemson could turn out to be a tall order.

As a 2022 prospect, Shaw is nowhere close to committing at this point, so a few more dominoes will have to fall North Carolina’s way before he ends up in Chapel Hill. Clemson, Georgia and a few others have also made strong early impressions on the five-star, and he will surely take many more visits before committing. If Dillworth’s pledge leads to Page’s commitment, a commitment from Shaw could follow that. Keep an eye on this one as the recruiting process rolls on.
