Could Boyles commit early
Gardena (Calif.) Serra has a loaded roster this year with three players ranked among the top 17 overall prospects in the state. DaJohn Harris (No. 11), Apaiata Tuihalamaka (No. 13) and Anthony Boyles (No. 17) are all currently on the road checking out four schools, all in the Pac 10.

Harris, a 6-4, 170 pound DL, Tuihalamaka, a 6-3, 205 pound LB/DE and Boyles, a 6-3, 185 pound WR were at Cal on Wednesday, Oregon, Thursday and are at Oregon State today. A visit to Washington on Saturday will close the trip out and the players are expected back home on Sunday or Monday.
"Apaiata's uncle is on our staff here and the original plan was he was just going to drive up to Cal, just the two of them for the day," Serra coach Scott Altenberg said. "I found out and asked if he wouldn't mind taking Anthony and DaJohn as well and checking out a few more schools, really making it a huge trip and they all liked the idea.
"A lot of these kids really haven't been outside of California so I wanted them to get a look at the different campuses around the area. In all the years I've coached here, I've never had a player who took all five official visits, they just get tired and commit before that so this way, at least they have something to compare when they do get ready to make their decisions.
"Things are going well so far. Cal was the only one of the four that hadn't offered any of the kids yet but they offered all three of them on Wednesday. Whenever I've called to see how things were going, the guys were always in team meetings so haven't had a chance to talk much with them but I'm looking forward to seeing how things go when they get back in town.
"I heard they're supposed to be doing something pretty special at Washington. It's like a Junior Day there but I heard they're shutting the streets down and making it like a big festival or something so it should be a lot of fun for the kids."
While Harris looks interested in taking all his trips and Tuihalamaka is open to just about everyone, Boyles could be the one player in the group most likely to make an early decision.
"Anthony really likes Washington a lot," Altenberg said. "He loves the coaches there and they have done a great job recruiting him. He likes both of the Oregon schools a lot too so I'm interested in talking with him now that he has seen each of the schools for the first time.
"I wouldn't be surprised if Anthony does decide to make an early decision. There has been a lot of days we'll talk in the weight room and he'll come up and say, 'coach, I think I'm ready.' Then the next day he doesn't know and isn't sure what to do. I just told him to promise me he won't do anything without at least first seeing the school. It doesn't make much sense to me to commit to a school you have never seen before.
"These visits will really open his eyes I bet. It's a great opportunity for him to see a school other than USC or UCLA, two schools he has visited numerous times. He's the one I would really be interested in talking to after this trip because if things go well, I think he could possibly make a decision sooner rather than later."
