Ohio State is off to a fantastic start in the 2022 recruiting class, already holding the No. 1 spot in the team rankings, and now they’ve extended their lead even more. Tight end Benjamin Gosnell, a Rivals250 prospect in the 2022 class, narrowed his lengthy list of options to North Carolina, Florida, and the Buckeyes but he decided that Ohio State was the place for him.

WHAT OHIO STATE IS GETTING:
Gosnell brings a lot to the table as a tight end and he should thrive in this Ohio State offense that is using the tight end more and more in the passing game. He is an outstanding athlete that played on both sides of the ball as a junior. Offensively, Gosnell lined up with his hand in the ground, flexed out as a receiver, and took handoffs as a running back. He is a very proficient blocker and plays with a chip on his shoulder. As a receiver, Gosnell does a good job catching the ball with his hands and can be trusted to run a variety of routes. He is especially dangerous when making catches over the middle with room to run. Gosnell is very hard for defenders to bring down once he gets a full head of steam and breaks into the open field.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE BUCKEYES:
Ohio State now has two tight ends in the 2022 class with Gosnell joining Bennett Christian. The Buckeyes are doing a much better job of incorporating tight ends in this offense lately than in the past few years. It would be surprising to see Ohio State take another tight end in this class considering the Buckeyes have Christian and 2021 tight Sam Hart committed. Ohio State might have to keep an eye out for North Carolina down the road. Gosnell’s brother, Stephen Gosnell, plays for the Tar Heels and the hometown pull might grow over time.
