Collins on the rise

Houston athlete Gino Collins has transferred from Cypress Fairbanks High School to St. Pius X High School.
At St. Pius, Collins, the 6-foot, 180-pounder, fits right into coach Robin Kirk's spread offense.

"It is a great opportunity for me to shine," Collins said. "I think will be playing some cornerback as well."
Collins is cousins with former St. Pius athlete Bakari Maxwell, who committed to Houston after two seasons at St. Pius. Maxwell played both ways for Kirk and has similar measurements as Collins.
Since the transfer, Collins has hit Oklahoma State and Houston's one-day camp and will be going Fresno State, Louisiana-Lafayette and UTEP camps. He will be going to Houston's one-day camp again next Monday.
"I did great at Houston's camp," Collins said. "I got a chance to meet the coaches and they really liked me. I have a feeling they may offer and if so, it wouldn't take long for me to commit. I have some family over there which I like.
"Fresno State said they would offer if I got up to their camp, so we'll seem. I'm just looking for an opportunity."
