1. Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin

The superstars at running back in college football are certainly delivering this season and Taylor leapfrogged Chuba Hubbard for the top spot at the position after this past weekend. Against Michigan State, Taylor finished with 80 yards and two touchdowns. So far this season he has 825 rushing yards and 14 scores along with four receiving touchdowns. The schedule does get tougher, but that’s when the Badgers might lean on Taylor even more.

2. Chuba Hubbard, Oklahoma State

The Oklahoma State running back leads the nation with 162 carries, but that’s alright because fantasy picking is a volume business, so that’s great news for owners in the college game. Hubbard is explosive, exciting to watch and his stock is going through the roof this season as he has 1,094 rushing yards (also tops among all running backs) and 13 touchdowns. Oklahoma State has a reputation for throwing it all over the field, but the Cowboys are feeding Hubbard and he’s making opponents pay.

3. Eno Benjamin, Arizona State

Benjamin is not putting up insane stats like he did last season, but he’s getting it done on the ground and in the passing game and it’s led to him being third in fantasy points at running back. So far this season as the Sun Devils are 5-1, Benjamin has 529 rushing yards and seven scores and he has also caught 19 passes for 185 yards and two more scores. Every point helps and Benjamin has been a resource all over the field.

4. A.J. Dillon, Boston College

Like always, Dillon is getting the ball and he’s being productive. That’s what NFL teams will be intrigued by with Dillon and why he’s been so special during his time at Boston College. Dillon has carried the ball 144 times (second-most in the country behind Hubbard) for 745 yards and six touchdowns, and what gives him the edge here is he’s caught seven passes for 138 yards and another score. The Eagles have lost two straight and the schedule remains tricky, but Dillon should keep getting the ball.

5. J.K. Dobbins

Everything is working for this Ohio State offense. The Buckeyes are averaging more than 49 points per game, 10 different receivers have caught a touchdown pass, quarterback Justin Fields is putting up massive numbers and there is still plenty left for Dobbins. So far this season, Ohio State’s running back has 826 yards and six touchdowns and he’s also caught a TD pass. His 116 attempts are the fewest among the top five and the schedule gets tougher, but Dobbins should keep getting the ball.
