CLASS OF 2021 RANKINGS: Rivals100 | Position | Team | State

1. ZACH CHARBONNET, Michigan

There are no freshmen running backs among the top 25 nationally as teams lean on veterans in the backfield, but Michigan has turned to Charbonnet as the feature back and he’s put up nice numbers this season. Ranked No. 38 overall at his position in fantasy points, the former high four-star from California has 457 yards and seven touchdowns on 94 carries this season. He’s still owned in just 21 percent of fantasy leagues.

2. JERRION EALY, Ole Miss

One spot below Charbonnet is Ealy, who was also considered for five-star status coming out of high school, especially after having a huge week at the Under Armour game. Small in stature, Ealy is electric with the ball in his hands whether as a running back, receiver or on special teams and it’s helped his fantasy stock. He’s third on the team with 384 yards and four touchdowns, he’s used in the passing game and he’s a weapon as a kick returner as well. In fantasy, though, he’s not getting any recognition, though as Ealy is owned in just four percent of leagues.

3. BREECE HALL, Iowa State

There was some question early in the season who would emerge in Iowa State’s backfield and it looks like Hall is the answer. A three-star out of Wichita (Kan.) Northwest, Hall now leads the Cyclones with 63 carries for 399 yards and five touchdowns. Despite being in the top-50 among running backs in fantasy points, Hall is owned in just nine percent of leagues.

4. NOAH CAIN, Penn State

Penn State is led in rushing attempts by quarterback Sean Clifford with 70 and that’s worrisome for fantasy owners, but Cain is emerging as the Nittany Lions' best back already and he has 62 touches for 329 yards and six touchdowns this season, which by far leads the team. Entering the latter stages of this season, it’s expected Cain will be the go-to running back as Penn State has figured out he’s the best option coming out of the backfield. Still owned in just six percent of leagues, Cain provides an opportunity.

5. ISAIAH SPILLER, Texas A&M

Spiller has been thrust into a leading role in the Texas A&M attack and although quarterback Kellen Mond still leads the team in rushing attempts with 68, Spiller is emerging later in the season and looks good in fantasy leagues. He has 67 touches for 360 yards and four touchdowns, both team highs. Spiller is owned in just 12 percent of leagues but could have a big finish to the year.
