The No. 1 prospect in the 2021 class has decommitted.

Five-star defensive end Korey Foreman from Corona (Calif.) Centennial backed off his pledge to Clemson on Tuesday, something that had been rumored for some weeks as certain factors were playing into his recruitment.

Foreman visited Clemson and fell in love with the place, returned with his parents and decided to make his commitment.

In early March at the Rivals Camp Series event in Los Angeles, Foreman showed off a new Tiger tattoo on his forearm and showed up to the camp wearing a Clemson bandanna. At an earlier Under Armour Camp, Foreman wore a Clemson sweatshirt under his jersey.

But rumors started leaking out that the five-star defensive end wanted to take other visits, something Clemson’s coaching staff does not allow for committed prospects and one source said Foreman was torn about what to do regarding his future.

According to another source, Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Miami and many other schools have continued to pursue Foreman through his Clemson commitment and that has only added to the intrigue for the five-star to see other schools.

But the one school that needs to be watched the closest is USC.

Foreman has a bunch of friends and former Corona Centennial teammates on the Trojans’ roster including defensive end Drake Jackson and receiver Gary Bryant. Foreman and Jackson not only starred together in high school but they train together and Foreman is close with Jackson’s father, Dennis, as well.

Another source said Tuesday that USC is absolutely considered the new frontrunner in his recruitment and that “they’re going to have a good class.”

On Monday, it was reported on TigerIllustrated.com that Foreman was not only considering a de-commitment but was close to making it public. According to The Athletic, who first reported it, Foreman has officially backed away from his Clemson commitment. It was also confirmed independently by this reporter.

Foreman has been compared to Ohio State superstar defensive end Chase Young, who is expected to be the second overall pick in the NFL Draft that starts Thursday. It might not be that much of a leap. At 6-foot-5 and 263 pounds already, Foreman is almost identically the same height and weight as Young at the NFL Combine. He also dominates on the field in similar fashion.
